Welcome to Xel-Ha, Mayan for “where the water is born.” Now with more exciting new features, this eco-park provides a beautiful day of fun for the entire family.

What’s an eco-park? Simply put, it’s a place where the region’s natural beauty is showcased. At Xel-Ha, a series of inlets, coves and mangroves mingle with the Caribbean Sea.

Additionally, there are several cenotes (freshwater sinkholes), and flooded caverns to explore. The sparkling turquoise water is usually crystal clear, and so inviting!

The park offers just about every water activity you can imagine. Depending on how active you want to be, there are plenty of options. Snorkel in the cove, swing off a rope into a refreshing cenote, or just relax on a river float (not much current, so you will have to paddle a bit)!

If you get tuckered out, take a little siesta on Hammock Island and renew your energy.

Buffet breakfast & lunch with kid-friendly options

Open domestic bar

Life vest & snorkel gear

Lockers, towels & swim bags

Eco-friendly sunscreen

Access to cenotes, cove, lighthouse & beach areas

A newly built scenic lighthouse towers nearly 100 feet over the park and provides stellar views for you to capture. You’ll have to climb a lot of stairs, but the view and the water slide down are worth it. (Be a good swimmer for this one, the landing area is deep water.)

For those that want a unique experience, there are also upgrade options available on top of your all-inclusive park pass.

Swim with dolphins / rays / manatees

Sea Trek (snuba)

Speed boat ride

Bicycle zip-line over the tree canopy

Of all the eco parks in the area, Xel-Ha is the furthest away. If you are staying in Playa del Carmen, be prepared to travel about 45 minutes to get to the park. It is located south of Playa, not too far from the city and archaeological site of Tulum.

Open every day of the year, Xel-Ha’s hours are from 8:30am to 6pm. We recommend arriving early and planning to spend the entire day at this scenic park. Bring your GoPro or your own waterproof case if your prefer to take pics on your phone. Or you can purchase a photo package online in advance to save a few bucks. Water shoes, and a rash guard and swim shorts will help you be most comfortable.

Xel-Ha is a great option for families with kids over age 5 and people of all ages who love being in the water!
