Jazz Fest 2016
Jazz is for everyone! That’s one of the slogans for this year’s Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, as shown on their Facebook page. Since its launch in 2003, this free event has drawn thousands of visitors to Playa del Carmen!
How many free beach concerts have you been to in the Caribbean? Hosted at Mamita’s Beach, the Jazz Fest brings together music lovers of all ages and backgrounds. A stage is constructed right on the beach for the event.
There couldn’t be much more beautiful venues than this. The beach at Mamita’s is super wide, with soft powdery sand. With blankets and beach chairs spread out on the sand, locals and visitors alike soak up the sounds under the stars.
The festival consistently brings big names and talents from all around the world. More than just jazz, the program embraces everything from merengue and samba to R&B, blues, funk and soul. It’s an extraordinary experience and always a lot of fun!
This year the event is happening December 1 – 3. It’s easy to get to–just a short stroll from your downtown condo, at the end of Calle 28.
If you want to check it out, here are a few tips:
- Bring a blanket and beach chairs to sit on the sand
- Pack drinks and snacks (alcohol is permitted)
- Arrive early and chill at Kool or Mamita’s beach club restaurants
- Clean up after yourself to leave the beach in good condition
