Puerto Aventuras – Golfing & Yachting

Published on December 23, 2017 by Kelly Storhaug

There are many great day trip opportunities in the Riviera Maya so many that it would take multiple trips to the area to enjoy them all.

One such day trip is to Puerto Aventuras, which is an easy 15 minute drive south down the federal Highway from Playa del Carmen. This small gated community sets right on the sea with a massive marina, golf and racquet club, dolphin, manatee, and sea lion encounters, along with restaurants, shops, and more to enjoy.

The entire community winds around various inlets and waterways. Boaters can park right in front of their private homes and vacation rentals alike. Additionally, the main marina harbors many fishing, dive, and snorkel charters along with a number of party boats for any who feel like soaking up the sun and having a good time on the Caribbean. You have options of a smaller, private cruise or book with a large, diverse group on a massive catamaran.

Even if you aren’t interested in getting out on the water, you can still enjoy all the sights and sounds of this tropical paradise. Walk around the marina and stop in at any of the various shops or any number of restaurants to possibly quench your thirst or grab a bite of lunch!

There are various isolated pools with dolphins, sea lions, and manatees for you to observe. Feeling adventurous? You and your family can jump in the water and take a swim with these sea creatures if you book ahead.

Designed by PGA tour pro Tom Lehman, the 9-hole golf course here in Puerto Aventuras is lush and beautiful. It is surrounded by stunning palms as well as massive Ceiba trees. Undoubtedly, you will be focused on a little white ball but when you take a few minutes to look at the scenery, you will notice an abundance of wildlife. Right next to the clubhouse there are also a number of synthetic grass tennis courts for any tennis enthusiasts.

For a relaxing day, visit the charming yachting community of Puerto Aventuras, just a hop, skip and a jump from Playa del Carmen!
