Add Sparkle to Your Smile While on Vacation

Mexico isn’t just a sunny vacation destination anymore. Lots of people are combining a beach holiday with affordable dental work. Have you ever thought about it?

Not sure where to go? You don’t have to risk a bad experience. Take the stress out of planning! This website is super helpful. I recommend it! It is a short-cut to finding the right dental clinic for you in Playa del Carmen.

You start by searching the procedure you need (root canal, filling, whitening, etc). Various clinics will pop up. Choose a clinic and you’ll see a brief description, their hours, and a list of their services (including prices in your currency). There are also staff bios, and a map so you can easily get there.

Right then and there, you can book an appointment and leave a note for the dentist with any special instructions or requests. (Or call the toll free number if you prefer!) The clinic then follows up with a confirmation
email or phone call.

I recently had a great experience at Dental House on 5th Avenue, between 40 & 42. (Just off CTM.) It’s one of the top-recommended clinics in Playa, and it was easy to see why! It’s got a great location, bilingual staff, and state-of-the-art equipment. Everything is immaculately clean.

Since I haven’t been to a dentist in probably 5 years, I was a little nervous! But the English-speaking staff put me at ease immediately. I felt like I was in a Canadian clinic—everything was modern, well-lit and sparkling.

After my cleaning, I got a brief tour of the lab at the back of the clinic. The technicians there can make crowns in 20 minutes! It’s the only clinic around that provides zirconium crowns. (I learned this is the hardest-known and most natural-looking ceramic used! It’s pretty much indestructible.)

Other clinics I’d recommend are Bokanova (handy if you’re staying in Playacar), and Coral Dentistry (behind Mega). Both are very professional and the prices are a fraction of what you’ll find back home.

A little off-the-beaten track but fantastic nonetheless, you’ll come across small clinics in residential areas (like behind El Fogon restaurant, near Walmart). Many doctors speak English and have been trained in Mexico City, the USA, or Canada.

My advice is to book a procedure at the beginning of your trip and then rest and relax! You’ve just saved a bundle of money that you can put towards your margarita fund!
