A long standing hot spot on the Playa del Carmen food scene is a time tested French bakery called Chez Céline. Follow the smell of freshly baked bread, and this is where you will end up!
There is a gorgeous courtyard/patio scene where you can enjoy an early breakfast and beat the crowds. We recommend dropping in before 9 to avoid waiting too long at this popular spot.
Order up any number of their extensive variety of pastries, made right on site. There’s anything from croissants, breads, baguettes, tarts, strudels, cakes (and more), that seem to rotate daily.
Flavors range from traditional to tropical, like the chocolate passion fruit tart. Inside, their display case is really enticing… But it may make your decision more difficult, since there are so many tasty treats to choose from!
Brunch is also a popular choice for many at Chez Céline, but be aware if you visit later in the day, the wait can be pretty long for a table. Step out of the heat and relax with your choice of a variety of fresh fruit juices, from orange juice to mango, agua frescas and more. Their coffee and espresso are also a good choice, if you still need a bit more caffeine to get your day going!
Menu offerings include omelettes, sandwiches, salads and of course the one and only Croque Monsieur. In the evening, try the sweet or savory crepes. We venture to say there are no better crepes in all of Playa.
For something different from what’s found on the rest of 5th Ave, Chez Céline is not to be missed!
