Mangez Bien at Café Antoinette!
A great recipe for life is embodied in the popular French expression: Mangez Bien, Riez Souvent, Aimez Beaucoup. Eat Well, Laugh Often, Love Much! And what’s not to love about quaint Café Antoinette, Playa’s favorite little French bakery!
The welcome aroma of espresso and soft accordion music greet me as I stroll in and glance at the chalkboard menu. It’s a tough decision with decadent chocolate mousse, tarts, éclairs and buttery croissants on display!
Deciding to start the day off right, my friends and I order the Combo Del Campo—a delightful countryside breakfast. Eggs any style, a baguette with butter and homemade jam, fresh-squeezed orange juice and a hot beverage are included. All of that for only 96 pesos (about $8 USD)! Our little round sidewalk table is nearly overloaded with food!
Between bites of fluffy omelette and sips of cappuccino, my friends and I chat about our plans for the day.
The Cozumel ferry dock is just down the street and we can see the sun glistening on the turquoise waves beyond. The palm fronds beside me sway in the breeze. Wafting from the speakers, the golden voice of Edith Piaf croons “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien”. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love Playa del Carmen!
Guests staying at Xaman Ha or Plaza Marina are within steps of Café Antoinette! (Only a few blocks from Luna Encantada, El Faro and Corto Maltes. Walk the beach south to the ferry dock and you’ll find it!)
